Grade: 4.5 out of 5 (Outstanding)

Rationale: Tom Hanks gets the majority of the screen time because the movie is presented in a flashback from his character’s point of view, but Michael Clarke Duncan clearly steals the show as death row inmate John Coffey. There’s an undeniable amount of soul and passion that he brings to that role. In fact, all of the actors portraying inmates do an excellent job, particularly Sam Rockwell as "Wild Bill" Wharton and Michael Jeter as Eduard Delacroix. Maybe a bit longer of a movie than truly needed, but every minute is splendid.
