Rationale: Similar to The Breakfast Club I hoped that a second viewing many years after I had first seen Ferris Bueller’s Day Off would change my opinion and make me think better of it. Guess not. I don’t get how this movie is considered to be a comedy like it’s pigeonholed into. Ferris breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the viewer directly would have been more impactful if Matthew Broderick had an ounce of charisma while doing it and, while not part of Ferris’ story, I wish viewers would have been privy to the fallout of Cam’s father seeing his car destroyed after being subjected to whining from Cam throughout the movie about how negative his father’s reaction to them taking the car would be, even before it was destroyed. That’s quite a missed opportunity in my opinion. Glad I never have to watch this again.
